Morgan Rogers slotted into Chelsea’s attack perfectly against Fulham, and has revealed what Xabi Alonso has planned for that front three this season.
All three of Rogers, Joao Pedro and Cole Palmer found the net in their opening day 3-2 victory against their West London rivals, and looked extremely threatening throughout the game.
Rogers became the first Chelsea player to create five chances on his Premier League debut for the club, immediately finding joy alongside two of the club’s most impactful players.

The former Aston Villa man spoke after the game to Premier League productions about what he has been asked to do by Alonso at his new club, including how to work as part of that devastating front three.
He said: “No, really fluid. He wants me to go near the ball and kind of overload teams if I can and try and float in between the lines and be effective in my position.

“He wants me to pick up spaces and get into the box and score goals ultimately. Each game will provide different things and space in different areas and it’s about how I can exploit it with the other two.
“Whether one goes in behind, come short, and whatnot. And we just work off each other really and whatever the defence gives us, we try and we try and exploit it. So, yeah, it’s a really nice to be able to do that and to be able to show my quality where I can. And yeah, it’s just about improving and working with the manager over and over and getting his ideas across so we can be even better.”

Becoming Chelsea’s club record signing was always going to add a level of pressure to the forward, however scoring on his debut is a great way to ease any concerns.
He will know he is under pressure for his place in the side too. Estevao Willian and Geovany Quenda are seen as two of the most talented youngsters in world football, and will be eager to earn their minutes too.
While the Blues’ backline, in particular goalkeeper Robert Sanchez, didn’t impress, they can feel safe in the knowledge that their front three are going to be a threat to any side they face this season.
