Liverpool have made strengthening their wide areas a priority since Mohamed Salah’s departure this summer, and Brighton winger Yankuba Minteh has emerged as one of the club’s leading targets to fill that gap on the right flank.
The Reds have already seen two bids rejected by Brighton this window, with offers of £50 million and £60 million both falling short of the Seagulls’ valuation.

Andoni Iraola’s side have continued to push for the 22-year-old regardless, even after it emerged that Minteh is facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines following ankle surgery.
According to Sky Sports Germany’s Florian Plettenberg, talks between the two clubs remain active, but the latest information from his sources paints a more complicated picture than Liverpool supporters might hope for.
Plettenberg reported on X that negotiations between Liverpool and Brighton are still ongoing, but that there is currently no agreement in sight between the two clubs.
He added that Brighton are, for now, optimistic about keeping hold of Minteh this summer.

That stance from the Amex Stadium comes despite Liverpool’s clear and repeated interest. Plettenberg noted that Liverpool “still really want” Minteh, viewing the left-footed winger as a player with a similar profile to Salah, given his ability to cut in from the right onto his stronger foot.
Brighton’s asking price sits at around £70 million, a figure Liverpool have yet to match.
According to reports, Liverpool are weighing up a third bid, with Ben Jacobs suggesting a £70 million offer would be enough to get a deal done, while the Reds may first test Brighton with an offer closer to £65 million.
Minteh’s fitness adds another layer to the situation.
He picked up an ankle injury in a pre-season match against Roma and has since undergone surgery, with Plettenberg’s prognosis suggesting he needs another two to three months before he is fully match-fit.
That timeline would likely keep him out until around October, meaning any deal now would not deliver an immediate boost to Iraola’s attack.
Minteh joined Brighton from Newcastle for £30 million in 2024 and has a contract with the club until 2029, giving the Seagulls little pressure to sell below their valuation.
