Finally, Chelsea have added to the five players permanently sold this summer. Not since the sale of Trevoh Chalobah have the Blues been able to cash in on the plethora of fringe players at their disposal.
Prior to Kellyman’s departure, only five players have been permanently sold by the Blues. Marc Cucurella, Andrey Santos, Trevoh Chalobah, Tyrique George and Jimmy-Jay Morgan preceded Kellyman’s departure.

Initial fees from the five sales have only equated to around £150m, far less than the £350m+ figure spent on the 11 incoming additions. Kellyman becomes the sixth player to be permanently sold by Chelsea.
The Blues have been unable to sell Benoit Badiashile, Axel Disasi and Alejandro Garnacho, though the Villa loanee is expected to meet the conditional obligation in his loan, believed to be worth about £43m.

How much have Chelsea managed to sell Kellyman for?
In the summer of 2024, Chelsea made the shock move to sign Kellyman from Villa for a whopping fee of £19m. It was a surprise given Kellyman was largely unheard of, and many thought it was simply for FFP.
Kellyman failed to make a senior debut for Chelsea and departs as one of BlueCo’s worst-ever signings. According to L’Equipe, Strasbourg will pay just £5m for Kellyman, as he signs a deal until June 2031.

Have Chelsea made a loss in terms of player amortisation?
Two years into his £19m move, Kellyman was only £7.6m of the way through the five-year process. It means that Chelsea would have had to sell the former Cardiff City loanee for £11.4m to break even.
The £5m fee he has been sold to Strasbourg for means Chelsea have made a hefty loss of £6.4m on the attacker. However, the sales of George and Chalobah represent pure profit and that covers the £6.4m loss.
Which other players could still be sold by Chelsea?
With just over a week to go in the transfer window, Chelsea are running out of time to conduct player sales. Loans are much more likely at this stage, but the Blues will be hoping to sell more permanently.
Gaga Slonina, Liam Delap, Enzo Fernandez, Nicolas Jackson and Marc Guiu are among the players they could still sell. But even Delap’s move to Nottingham Forest could end up being a loan, not a sale.
