Giovanni van Bronckhorst was reappointed as Feyenoord head coach in June on a two-year contract, with an option to extend for a further year. The 51-year-old replaced Robin van Persie, who was sacked after just 16 months in charge.
Van Bronckhorst previously managed Feyenoord from 2015 to 2019, winning two KNVB Cups and the Eredivisie title in 2017. He was also part of Arne Slot’s coaching staff at Liverpool before leaving following Slot’s dismissal.

The former Netherlands international’s most recent managerial role was at Besiktas, where he won the Turkish Super Cup before being sacked after five months.
Van Bronckhorst came through Feyenoord’s academy and spent five years with the club as a player between 1993 and 1998, before returning for a second spell from 2007 to 2010.
With the Dutch transfer window open until September 2, Van Bronckhorst is keen to strengthen his squad in the coming days. According to De Telegraaf, Feyenoord are in talks with Manchester United over a loan move for 18-year-old forward Chido Obi.
Obi could be loaned out to gain more regular first-team football, with Feyenoord currently only interested in a temporary deal. It remains unclear whether a purchase option could be included.
Although Van Bronckhorst already has four forwards at his disposal – Ayase Ueda, Casper Tengstedt, Shaqueel van Persie and Nacho Ferri – Feyenoord are still pursuing a move for Obi.
The Rotterdam club may also be preparing for the departure of Ueda. Fenerbahce have recently made a bid for the Japanese striker, but he reportedly prefers a move to the Premier League. Obi’s potential arrival could be bad news for Van Persie, who has seen less playing time than Ferri in recent weeks.
Arsenal brought Obi to England in 2022 before he made the move to Manchester United two years later. He made his Premier League debut in February 2025, coming on as a substitute for Casemiro against Tottenham Hotspur.
