La Liga giants Barcelona are ready to reward youngster Xavi Espart for his recent exploits. This comes amid the understanding that the defender will imminently be afforded a permanent first-team place.
Full-back Espart is fresh off an outing to remember this past weekend. Afforded a surprise starting berth in Barcelona’s season opener against Elche, the 19-year-old responded with a stellar performance.
Asked to fill in in an unfamiliar left-back berth, Espart did not look at all out of place, stout in his defending and with an assist to show for his efforts at the other end.
And as alluded to above, such excellence evidently did not go unappreciated on the part of those in a position of power in Catalunya’s capital.
As per a report from Mundo Deportivo:
‘FC Barcelona have decided to promote him to the first-team. After wearing number 36 in the first La Liga match last Sunday in Elche, Espart will now wear number 12 in La Liga.’
