Clubs that identify talented goalkeepers at a young age often secure them for future scholarship intakes. Trial periods that impress coaches lead to long-term agreements. Professional contracts timed to a player’s 17th birthday provide a clear pathway into the academy system.
Northern Ireland youth internationals who gain experience in domestic leagues remain attractive prospects. Competition among the under-16 and under-18 ranks increases with every new arrival. Supporters tracking academy recruitment note each confirmed addition with interest.

Arsenal have confirmed that goalkeeper Phoenix Blayney will join the club’s scholarship intake for the 2027/28 campaign. The Northern Ireland Under-17 international will arrive from Larne and is set to sign a professional contract when he turns 17 in November 2027.
Blayney previously impressed during a trial with Arsenal and also spent time on trial at Liverpool. The move secures the young shot-stopper for the Gunners’ academy pathway well in advance of his official arrival.

Arsenal already have promising goalkeepers in the under-16 squad, including Charlie Phillips and Max Lo Presti. Blayney’s addition will increase competition for places among the younger age groups as the club continues to invest in its development system.
The confirmation forms part of Arsenal’s ongoing academy recruitment. Supporters will look forward to following Blayney’s progress once he joins the scholarship programme. Further updates on the club’s youth intake are expected as the current season progresses.
Blayney will continue his development at Larne in the meantime before making the move to north London in the summer of 2027. The long-term agreement underlines Arsenal’s commitment to securing high-potential talent at an early stage.
