The Las Vegas Raiders may have been the beneficiary of some good luck with a positive diagnosis on the injury suffered by star running back Ashton Jeanty during Sunday’s practice.
Coach Klint Kubiak suggested there may have even been some divine intervention at play.
“The power of prayer,” Kubiak said Tuesday in addressing the injury for the first time.
Jeanty went down in pain after trying to catch a low pass in the flat. The entire team huddled around him and took a knee in prayer as he was helped off the field, unable to put weight on his right leg.
Kubiak declined to confirm reports Jeanty escaped with just a sprained ankle other to say Jeanty is “on the mend.”
“He always answers in his time,” Kubiak said, appearing to refer to God.
The first-year head coach said the fact his teammates were so concerned says a lot about Jeanty and his value and impact to the organization.
While he declined to provide a timeline, Kubiak suggested Jeanty will be able to play sooner rather than later.
“We’re excited to get him back,” Kubiak said. “I’m a huge believer in the power of prayer.”
