Just like fans, Rogers is also excited about Chelsea's primary front three of him, Cole Palmer, and Joao Pedro.

Morgan Rogers has admitted that he is still trying to build an understanding with new Chelsea teammate Joao Pedro, and believes the team’s front three is “only going to get better”.
There were a lot of positives to take from Chelsea's 3-2 win over west London neighbours Fulham on Monday, as the Blues started their Premier League campaign with a victory.
Maxence Lacroix was a fine example of an individual who produced a really solid performance in the middle of Chelsea’s three-man defence. Josh Acheampong was also a standout in the Blues' side, making several huge blocks to keep Fulham out.
The attacking front three, however, stole the limelight in the capital. Rogers, Cole Palmer, and Joao Pedro all got on the scoresheet to secure the club’s first win of the 2026-27 season.
Palmer and Joao Pedro obviously link up well, having played together for over a year at Chelsea. Palmer and Rogers are best friends and played together at the Manchester City academy and with the England national team.
But the link-up between Rogers and Joao Pedro remains in relatively uncharted territory, and they've made the perfect start.
“We’ve been working on it in training,” Rogers told Chelsea’s in-house media when asked about his partnerships with Palmer and Joao Pedro.
“We’ve been trying to get an understanding of what each other likes.
“Obviously I know Cole, but I’d never played with Joao before, so I’m trying to understand what his game’s about and what his strengths are, and try to allow him to be him and still be effective.
“Yeah, it’s a work in progress. I think it was a really good start. There are some really good moments, some really good interchange and play.
“It’s only going to get better, which is exciting, and I can’t wait.”
"Exciting" Chelsea front three
Unlike Palmer and Joao Pedro, Rogers is among the late arrivals to Chelsea’s pre-season due to his involvement in the World Cup, so he has had very limited time to adapt to new teammates and the new system.
In terms of play style, it is also likely harder for Rogers and Joao Pedro to complement each other since they both like to operate down the left channel. Palmer, on the other hand, thrives on the right.
Against Fulham, Rogers created more chances (five) than any other player in the Premier League in gameweek one, so it is safe to say he had no problems making an impact as a creative outlet.
Unfortunately for him, he did not end up with an assist despite creating those chances, while Joao Pedro and Palmer assisted each other’s goals.
It is exactly what makes this Chelsea front three so potent. Each of the three can create and score goals, which, as Rogers pointed out, is exciting.
Fulham was just the beginning for the trio. They are only just warming up. If they manage to continue and build the relationship, it is a scary prospect of what they might produce, goals and assists-wise, by the end of the season.
