Once again, the Chicago Bears rumors are heating up as the team is reportedly trying to deal former second-round pick defensive tackle Gervon Dexter. NFL Insider Jordan Schultz on X reported that the Bears had trade talks and that there are “multiple scenarios” with other teams to seal the deal. Earlier this offseason, Schultz also reported that multiple teams have reached out to Chicago regarding the former Florida product. Last season, the defensive tackle finished the 2025 campaign with 44 total tackles, 6.0 sacks, and 2 fumble recoveries across 17 games.
The 24-year-old has only missed two games in his NFL career. In total, he has recorded 13.5 career sacks and 42 QB hits, and now enters the final year of his rookie contract. It’s unknown which teams are interested, but it’s one to watch as the regular season commences next month.
After losing veteran pass rusher Tremaine Edmunds this offseason and a few key secondary defenders, the Bears have actively rebuilt their defense. Chicago signed former Cleveland Brown linebacker Devin Bush while reuniting with Jack Sanborn, who spent one season with the Dallas Cowboys.

Bears Rumors: Chicago May Seal Massive $6M Trade Talks Before Week 1
What to Know: Trade Value Revealed
However, the Bears have yet to improve their defensive line. Unless the Chicago are trying to get a veteran defensive lineman in return, this trade doesn’t make sense. Dexter remains a crucial piece, but in his young career, he may not net a first-round pick. It appears the Bears are exploring the “scenarios” while determining which is most suitable.
Perhaps it could be Arizona Cardinals’ disgruntled star Josh Sweat that is involved in the trade talks, too. However, the second-rounder should be able to garner at least a fourth-round draft selection.
It depends on what the Bears are looking for, too. Either way, the defensive tackle should find a new home soon, and the rest of this article will predict the five teams that may be eyeing the 24-year-old.
