As the San Francisco 49ers deal with the fallout from owner Jed York’s arrest in Ohio in connection with a prostitution sting, new details have been revealed by 49ers insider Matt Barrows. York pleaded no contest Monday morning to two misdemeanor charges and spent two days in jail.
Barrows reported in his latest for the [Athletic](https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/7537915/2026/08/25/49ers-owner-jed-york-prostitution-undercover-ad/) that York responded to an ad on a prostitution website under the name “Joe.” An agent for the task force in the area placed the ad, and York had spent a day attempting to arrange a meeting.
“Driving an Avis rental car, York was seen arriving in the mobile home park,” Barrows wrote. “When he couldn’t find the lot number, he went back onto the main road, where he was stopped by police. According to the report, a test text message showed that York’s phone had been used to set up the meeting. Police seized the phone and the $160.
As the 49ers await a decision from the NFL regarding York and a possible fine and/or suspension, head coach Kyle Shanahan took the podium following today’s practice and was asked several questions about York and his legal situation.
“I got to talk to Jed the last two days and today,” Shanahan said. “Obviously, it’s a very tough situation. I mean, views for the organization going forward is the same as usual. There won’t be any difference in that. But I know it’s extremely fresh.
“I think it’s a very, very personal situation. I’ve got a lot of respect for Jed. I’ve got a lot of respect for Danielle (Jed’s wife). Their family does mean a lot to me. So, with it being this personal, I’m trying as hard as I can to keep it that way.”
Shanahan reiterated that there wasn’t a need to deliver a message to the team regarding the situation. The team is business as usual as they will travel to Las Vegas for the preseason finale on Thursday night.
