Chelsea are preparing to replace Enzo Fernandez should he leave this summer, while Nicolas Jackson is set to leave before the transfer deadline.
It's been an extremely busy window for Chelsea following Xabi Alonso's appointment.
Maxence Lacroix, Marco Palestra and Morgan Rogers are among the new arrivals, while departures of Andrey Santos, Tyrique George, Marc Cucurella and Trevoh Chalobah have all been finalised.
Chelsea are set to offload more names before the September 1 deadline. Liam Delap has agreed to a move to Nottingham Forest in a deal worth up to £50m, while Manchester City are looking to reach an agreement with the Blues for Fernandez, who is keen to reunite with Enzo Maresca.
But on the potential departure, it isn't just Chelsea's asking price that must be met. Xabi Alonso's side need to find a replacement for the 25-year-old. Otherwise, they will be reluctant to let him leave regardless of his desire.
Enzo Fernandez replacement identified, Chelsea prepare fresh move
If Manchester City can agree on a deal for Fernandez, with it suggested they will make a final push in the coming days, Chelsea have identified potential replacements.
One of those is Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott, who Chelsea have already had a bid in excess of £60m rejected earlier this summer.
Bournemouth maintain they want to keep the 23-year-old, but a huge offer could tempt them into parting with Scott.
As reported by The Independent, Chelsea are preparing to go back in for Scott.
There is a reported belief that a bid of more than £80m, likely closer to £90m, could mean Bournemouth reconsider their stance.
But like Chelsea with Fernandez, Bournemouth will want a replacement, so the clock is ticking for the first domino to fall.
Aston Villa ready move for Nicolas Jackson
Unai Emery's side have been linked with Nicolas Jackson for longer than this summer, given their pair's relationship dates back to their time at Villarreal together.
With the potential departure of Ollie Watkins, Aston Villa are preparing to bring in a new striker, and Jackson is on the list, which would open the door for Watkins to leave Villa Park.
Chelsea are open to a sale this summer as they cut down their centre-forward options and have placed a £65m asking price on the Senegal international.
Now, as reported by the Daily Telegraph, Villa have stepped up their interest in Jackson and talks are ongoing over how to meet Chelsea's asking price.
It's claimed Villa are prepared to meet Chelsea's £65m valuation, including add-ons, rather than paying it all up front. Regardless of the Blues' stance, 'there is a growing belief' that a transfer can be done before next week's deadline.
This would see Chelsea only need to finalise a deal for Marc Guiu to trim their centre-forward options to three, which is what they have targeted.
It helps that Chelsea and Aston Villa have had a good relationship in recent years, with several transfers in both directions. Alejandro Garnacho joined Villa on loan earlier this summer, while Chelsea paid a club-record £117m for Rogers.
