Liverpool Now Expect To 'Get The Deal Done' For Top Target As Asking Price Drops To £120M - Report

Liverpool believe an agreement is finally in sight for Paris Saint-Germain winger Bradley Barcola, according to reports.

TEAMtalk claim that the European champions have reduced their valuation to £120m, which makes the fee more palatable for the Reds.

That figure means that the Merseysiders will not need to pay a club record fee to secure Barcola’s signature before the transfer window closes.

For that reason, TEAMtalk suggests that there is now an expectation inside the club that they will “get the deal done” in time.

Liverpool want 2 wingers before the window shuts

Barcola is one of two wide players that sporting director Richard Hughes is hoping to recruit ahead of the transfer deadline next Tuesday night.

While the France international would strengthen Andoni Iraola’s options on the left flank, reinforcements on the opposite side are also needed.

Two bids have so far been rejected for Brighton’s Yankuba Minteh, and it remains to be seen whether the Reds will make a third attempt to snap up the Gambian international.

Minteh was seen as a cheaper alternative to Ibrahim Mbaye, but there is now a good chance that both could cost the same amount – around £70m. Hughes will have to make a decision on which player to pursue.

Gakpo could be sold under the right circumstances

With all this talk of new wide players being brought in, it has raised further questions about the future of Cody Gakpo.

The Dutchman started and scored during the 2-2 draw against Newcastle at the weekend, but he has two Premier League clubs, Tottenham and Manchester City, interested in signing him.

It is believed that if Liverpool do sign Barcola AND recruit either Minteh or Mbaye, then Gakpo’s departure would be sanctioned by the club.
