Liverpool could be very busy in the final week of the transfer window, according to Sky Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg.
Posting on his X account, the journalist said that Bradley Barcola and Yankuba Minteh “remain the top priorities” for the Reds, with there being a chance of “three more players” heading to Anfield “before Deadline Day”.
Those remarks will undoubtedly spark speculation over whether that means a midfielder or a fullback could also be signed prior to the transfer deadline.
Liverpool are not looking to replace Jones
After seeing the Reds concede from two counter-attacks against Newcastle at the weekend, many supporters and pundits have called on the Merseyside club to recruit a holding midfielder.
However, The Telegraph have confirmed that the recruitment team are not focused on reinforcing the club’s options in the middle of the park.
Even after Curtis Jones’ departure for Inter Milan, it is believed that Trey Nyoni will be given the chance to make the step up.

What is the latest on negotiations for Barcola & Minteh?
At the time of writing, there are no new developments on either transfer. There is a stalemate between Liverpool and PSG, with sporting director Richard Hughes unwilling to match Barcola’s £125m asking price.
The Minteh deal looks more likely to happen. While Brighton have rejected two offers for the Gambian international, worth £50m and £60m, it is felt that the two sides are not too far apart on finding an agreement.
Even if Minteh does make the switch to Merseyside, though, he won’t play straight away. He is currently on the sidelines, having sustained an ankle injury that could keep him out until October or November.
