Man City have “reached an agreement in principle” on a contract with Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez, according to reports.
Posting on his X account, journalist Nicolo Schira said that the Argentinian international will sign a six-year deal if he makes the switch to the Etihad Stadium.
At the time of writing, the Cityzens have yet to table an official offer for Fernandez, but that is expected to happen imminently.
Schira says a bid of around €130m (£111.3m) is likely to be proposed, but that would fall short of Chelsea’s reported £120m asking price.
Fernandez did not start Chelsea’s first league game
Although his late return from the World Cup may have played a part in his omission, the midfielder’s absence from the starting lineup for the 3-2 win over Fulham on Monday was notable.
After the match, Blues boss Xabi Alonso did not give any guarantees that Fernandez would remain at Stamford Bridge beyond the summer transfer window:
“In football, I am not surprised by anything. We will see. My wish is that we know what will happen for the future, but we will see this week.”

Head coach Enzo Maresca is said to be very keen on being reunited with the player, whom he worked with for one and a half seasons before his departure from Chelsea at the beginning of this year.
