Man Utd forward Marcus Rashford is a surprise target for Chelsea, according to reports.
The Independent claim that the England international’s name “has been broached” in discussions among the Blues’ recruitment team as they seek a “versatile” option up front.
Any approach is said to hinge on more players departing Stamford Bridge before the transfer window shuts next week.
Even so, the fact that Rashford is even under consideration will raise an eyebrow or two among Chelsea supporters.
Chelsea are likely to offload Jackson
It appears as if Nicolas Jackson could be on his way to Aston Villa. Reports suggest that the Midlands club have submitted an offer in the region of €70m (£60m) for the Senegalese international.
That is very close to the Blues’ £65m valuation, which they have been holding out for all summer following his return from Bayern Munich.
Villa boss Unai Emery knows Jackson well, and with the Villans seeking a replacement for Ollie Watkins, the deal seems to make sense for all parties.

Several exits could open the door for Rashford
Jackson is by no means the only Chelsea striker to attract suitors, with Nottingham Forest reportedly in advanced talks to sign Liam Delap.
Furthermore, there is uncertainty over the futures of two wingers. Jamie Gittens is attracting interest from Roma, while Pedro Neto is said to be a target for Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal.
Their departures (along with Jackson’s) would weaken Xabi Alonso’s options in the final third of the pitch. In that context, you could see why Rashford has been discussed. For now, though, it doesn’t appear he is being actively pursued, especially with so much outgoing business left to do.
