Tension is mounting around Liverpool's summer transfer dealings. With the clock aggressively ticking down to the September 1 deadline, the Anfield hierarchy finally seem poised to pull the trigger on some late business.
Up to this point, the arrivals lounge at the club has seen limited traffic, welcoming only Spanish wide-man Victor Munoz, temporary Barcelona acquisition Ronald Araujo and French centre-half Jeremy Jacquet. Following Curtis Jones's exit just days ago, the Reds were widely expected to concentrate entirely on bolstering their squad.
Despite this, yet another player has officially headed for the exit door within the past day. Throughout the window, persistent rumours have connected Liverpool with Paris Saint-Germain star Bradley Barcola. It appears this drawn-out saga might finally be reaching its climax and theECHO has taken a closer look.
Barcola 'agreement close'
Liverpool are understood to be edging towards an agreement with PSG for Barcola as the Reds prepare to submit a final proposal. According to L'Equipe, Liverpool are confident the European champions will accept the offer and the player's camp is said to be increasingly optimistic that a deal will be concluded before this summer's transfer deadline.
Liverpool have been pursuing the French international throughout much of the summer, with PSG understood to be seeking in excess of £145million for the player. The Reds, though, are unwilling to pay such a sum.

Barcola is also believed to be eager to link up with Andoni Iraola's squad. While PSG's asking price remains a stumbling block, it has recently been reported in the French press that a bid somewhere between £111m and £128m could be sufficient to finally bring the left winger to Anfield.
It is further suggested that there is no concern that the deal might collapse, despite an apparent absence of tangible progress to date.
There is an expectation that the eventual transfer fee will surpass the Ligue 1 record for a sale to a foreign club, eclipsing both Ayyoub Bouaddi's forthcoming transfer to Manchester City this summer and Neymar's move to Al-Hilal in 2023; however, the precise final figure remains unclear.
Star shares thoughts on exit
Liverpool defender Calvin Ramsay has expressed his delight at returning to Scotland. The right-back has joined St Mirren, subject to international clearance.
With the Scot out of contract at Anfield next summer, he will ultimately leave on a permanent free transfer. It has already been determined that the club will not offer him a new deal.
Ramsay joined Liverpool in an initial £4.2m transfer from Aberdeen in June 2022. His time with the Reds was blighted by injuries and unsuccessful loan spells. He managed just four appearances across his four years at Anfield. Nevertheless, he is now relishing his fresh challenge.

"I feel really good, really excited," he told his new club. "I've been in and trained and met all the boys, so yeah, I'm looking forward to it.
"I know the league and I wanted to come back up here and try and show what I can do and rebuild myself again. I feel like it's a good place to come. I want to try and perform, work as hard as I can and see where that takes me.
"It's a really tough place to come for opposition teams and I think the pitch is really good as well from when I played here. It's a good set up, it's a good club and I'm just excited to get going. I spoke to the manager a couple of times before I came up and he got his plan across and what he wanted to do.
"It's probably a different St Mirren compared to the last few years. That'll suit me. I'm comfortable on the ball, I'm composed, I like to get on it and try and create things and make things happen."
