‘Deal off’ – Fabrizio Romano confirms massive Liverpool transfer blow

Liverpool are set for a busy end to the summer transfer window.

The Reds remain in talks with PSG for Bradley Barcola and are expected to agree a deal before the transfer deadline.

And while the Frenchman is their main transfer target, Andoni Iraola’s side are keen to add another attacker to their squad.

Brighton’s Yankuba Minteh has been heavily linked with a move to Anfield, with Liverpool having two bids rejected for the Gambian.

But it appears as if the 22-year-old will not be joining the Reds before the transfer deadline.

Yankuba Minteh to Liverpool off

The Italian said on his YouTube channel: “The Yankuba Minteh deal is considered off. Liverpool are focusing on different names for the RW position now.”

Brighton reportedly value the player at around £80m, which is probably why the Reds have decided to walk away from the deal.

They had bids worth £50m and £60m rejected, and judging by recent reports, they aren’t willing to go higher.

Romano’s mention of alternatives is also interesting, although it remains to be seen who they pivot to at this stage of the summer transfer window.

The likes of Ibrahim Mbaye, Rayan and Matias Fernandez-Pardo were linked earlier in the summer, so perhaps it could be one of them.
