Fans online have reacted excitedly at the recent reports suggesting that Ousmane Dembele could leave PSG before Deadline Day amid claims of a rift between the forward and Luis Enrique.
Liverpool are in ongoing talks to sign Bradley Barcola for around £125m, and there is a fanciful possibility that they could open talks for Dembele too amid rumours of the 29-year-old’s unrest in Paris.
According to RMC Sport, the possibility of Dembele leaving PSG this summer has not been ruled out as Liverpool’s search for new attackers drags on.
The report states: “There is a problem between Ousmane Dembélé and PSG. This week of rest looks more like a serious punishment.
“The fact that PSG released an official statement specifically announcing that he will only return to training on Monday shows that this is not simply about rest.
“Against Aston Villa, Dembélé wanted to start and had even prepared specifically during his holidays to be ready. This could be the first real tension between Luis Enrique and Dembélé. A departure is not ruled out!”

If Barcola is valued at £145m, PSG would want over £200m for Ousmane Dembele
Barcola has two years left on his contract, is not a guaranteed starter for Luis Enrique and has expressed his desire to leave. Typically, this would harm PSG’s ability to extract a massive fee, yet the Parisians have insisted he is worth between £125m and £145m.
Now, imagine how much it would cost to sign Dembele.
The Frenchman is also out of contract in 2028, is a Ballon d’Or winner and is the prized jewel of PSG’s star-studded team.
Oh, and his contract is worth around €524,000 per week after bonuses.
There isn’t a world where PSG would demand anything less than £200m for Dembele.
While I would be the first one to say I’d love to see him at Anfield, he’s already 29 and signing him would be a major risk, given his injury history and the intensity of the Premier League.
Last season, Dembele only played 1,063 minutes of football in Ligue in order to be fully fit for all of PSG’s Champions League games. While this strategy paid off as they won their second successive European Cup final, it’s not likely to be acceptable in England with Liverpool.
As much as I’d love to read into the rumours, I’m going to have to say that there is absolutely zero point in getting excited about the idea of him moving to Liverpool.
