The midfield picture at Liverpool changed at the end of last week when Curtis Jones completed his move to Inter Milan.
The 25-year-old left Anfield after 16 years at the club, in a deal worth up to £30 million.

Jones made 228 appearances for Liverpool since his first-team debut, scoring 22 goals along the way. His exit leaves head coach Andoni Iraola with fewer options in a midfield.
Iraola has signalled he wants to give more responsibility to 19-year-old Trey Nyoni rather than bring in a direct replacement for Jones, with wingers named as the club’s transfer priority this summer.
Even so, questions remain over whether Dominik Szoboszlai, Alexis Mac Allister and Ryan Gravenberch offer enough control through the middle of the pitch.
One name has continued to be linked with a move to Anfield throughout the window: Bournemouth’s Alex Scott.
The 22-year-old, who played under Iraola at Bournemouth, has rejected a new contract at the Vitality Stadium.
The Cherries value him at around £90 million, and Arsenal, Manchester United, Manchester City and Chelsea have all registered interest, with a bid around £70 million from Chelsea already turned down.

A stoppage-time Szoboszlai penalty rescued a 2-2 draw at Newcastle, but the visitors were repeatedly opened up through central midfield before that late intervention.
Amid the ongoing pursuit of Scott, a fresh name has now entered Liverpool’s plans as deadline day approaches.
According to journalist Abdel Hamed on X, Liverpool are still in the hunt for a No. 6 and would like to make a move for Monaco’s Lamine Camara at the last moment.
Hamed reports that offers for Camara are dragging on because the clubs involved are aware of Monaco’s situation and are waiting for the end of the transfer window before acting.
Lamine Camara, 22, is a Senegal international with 30 caps and four goals, and is under contract at Monaco until 2029.
The French club have set a valuation in the region of €50 million and regard him as one of their most prized assets this summer, alongside forward Folarin Balogun.
Monaco are said to be reluctant to sell below that price, meaning any Liverpool approach is likely to hinge on how the market moves in the closing hours of the window.
A bid before deadline day would give Liverpool a second midfield option alongside their long-standing interest in Scott.
