Liverpool’s troubled search for a new right winger has seen them turn to Crystal Palace winger Ismaila Sarr, with claims of a £50 million deal being in the offing.
After withdrawing from the bidding for Brighton‘s Yankuba Minteh, Liverpool are pursuing alternative targets to bolster their right flank.
That, according to multiple reports, has led them to Sarr, the 28-year-old Senegal winger who still has three years left on his contract at Crystal Palace.
Fabrizio Romano writes on X that Liverpool have opened talks with Palace over a deal, with a proposal worth £50 million already submitted.

Sarr, who missed Palace’s opening game of the season amid claims of an injury, has already been subject of interest from Galatasaray this month.
A possible move to Anfield comes out of left field, with Liverpool having previously targeted young options with both proven quality and clear upscale.
But he represents a more ready-made option, albeit one who is yet to be tested at an elite-level club having so far played for Metz, Rennes, Watford, Marseille and now Palace.

Liverpool’s interest in Sarr dates back several years, with an enquiry made to Watford back in 2020 while the club were weighing up options to bolster Jurgen Klopp‘s attack.
Days later a deal was struck to sign Diogo Jota from Wolves, which proved to be a masterstoke as the Portuguese went on to cement himself as a key player alongside the established group of Mo Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino.
With Salah now departed along with Mane and Firmino, Sarr could now be tasked with filling the void left by one of the club’s greatest-ever wingers.

It should be stressed that Sarr will be viewed as a supplementary signing, with Bradley Barcola still the priority target for the left wing as talks continue with Paris Saint-Germain.
But if a transfer is agreed he would be considered a viable starter along with the existing group of wingers including Rio Ngumoha and Victor Munoz.
If Liverpool do sign two wingers before Tuesday’s transfer deadline the expectation is that Cody Gakpo could become available, with Tottenham and Man City both registering their interest.
