Dario Essugo could leave Chelsea as Strasbourg move emerges

Dario Essugo has high chances to leave Chelsea this summer. The midfielder is assumed to depart from Stamford Bridge on loan. Strasbourg is the most likely destination for the Portuguese youngster. Chelsea need to sanction some outgoings from their huge squad before the end of the window.

Dario Essugo to Strasbourg on loan is a huge possibility

As reported by L’Equipe, Chelsea have listed Dario Essugo for a season-long loan. Now, clubs looking to strengthen their defensive midfield are keeping an eye on the Portuguese star. No significant buy option has been discussed yet. The Blues consider him as an exciting talent with huge potential. So they want him to develop his game at a club where he will be getting regular football.

The 21-year-old grew up in the academy of Portuguese club Sporting CP. He joined the first team of Sporting in 2023. For more exposure, he went to another Portuguese club, Chaves on loan. After returning, he was sent outside Portugal for more experience. Essugo joined Spanish side Las Palmas on a season-long loan where he delivered some impressive performances. Upon returning, Chelsea approached Sporting for the midfielder and a deal was agreed. In June 2025, the London side brought Essugo to Stamford Bridge for €22.3m, according to Transfermarkt. But the move has not been fruitful for the youngster.

After joining the Blues, he has featured in just 5 games, playing a total of 117 minutes, according to FOTMOB. Essugo had to undergo a surgery for his quadriceps injury. Hence, a loan move is the best possible decision for the young midfielder. French club Strasbourg could be his next club where he can get more game time. The Ligue 1 club which is under the same BlueCo ownership with Chelsea, has only one vacant position for a player from its sister club. Strasbourg want to reserve that position until the end of the transfer window.

Mykhailo Mudryk could head to another club on loan

Chelsea winger Mykhailo Mudryk has returned to football after almost 2 years. In 2024, he failed the anti-doping test for which he was ruled out from professional football for 4 years. But due to some changes in the rules and regulations of doping test, his suspension was reduced to 2 years. After serving 2 years of suspension, the Ukrainian forward joined his team in the pre-season. He kept himself fit during this time.

As reported by BBC, Mykhailo Mudryk could move somewhere else on loan alongside Dario Essugo. Xabi Alonso’s side have made a proposal to Strasbourg for the 25-year-old on a temporary basis. But Mudryk has no interest to join the Ligue 1 side. Both the players are in search of regular game time. A loan move within the Premier League is also on the cards.

The Chelsea-Strasbourg transfer relationship continues

Strasbourg have already got Filip Jorgensen and Genesis Antwi from the Chelsea on loan. The third and final spot will be expectedly filled in this month. The Alsatians need to strengthen their squad as they have already lost their first league game of 2026-27 season to Marseille 4-0.

Two other players from Chelsea, Deivid Washington and Omari Kellyman will also join the French side. These moves are on permanent basis. They have also signed striker Jacobo Ortega from Real Madrid’s academy.
