Barcelona fans and Frenkie de Jong have shared a difficult love-hate relationship throughout his time in the Catalan capital.
The Spanish giants signed the Netherlands midfield maestro in 2019 and, since then, he has gone on to become an important part of the team under different managers.
There have been times when he has looked like the best midfielder at the club, but injury and contractual issues have often seen him lose the support of the fans.
De Jong is going through a difficult time right now after suffering a medial collateral ligament tear during the World Cup.
The 29-year-old opted against surgery and chose conservative treatment. He tried testing his knee in training yesterday, but it was revealed that he was still suffering from discomfort.
Now, according to an exclusive report from Touchline X, despite the transfer speculation surrounding him, De Jong has no desire to leave Barcelona.
Barcelona means more than football to De Jong
Irrespective of what clubs come forward to sign him, the Dutchman is clear that he only wants to remain at Barcelona.

Importantly, his position is not based solely on his sporting situation.
De Jong is understood to love living in Barcelona, including the city’s weather, environment and culture.
His family are completely settled here, something that naturally carries considerable weight when thinking about his long-term future.
Indeed, the report goes considerably further by claiming that the midfielder would ideally like to spend the remainder of his playing career at Barcelona and eventually retire at the club.
It is a significant indication of De Jong’s attachment to Barça after spending so many years at the club.
He has always been subject to transfer speculation, even in the past, but never looked close to leaving at any stage.
A player who still sees his future at Barça
For Barcelona, such commitment is valuable, particularly if De Jong remains an important part of the sporting project.

The midfielder knows the demands of the club, understands the environment and has already experienced both extremely difficult periods and successful ones in Catalonia.
While staying his entire career at Barça is not a decision he can make alone, it shows his desire to succeed in Blaugrana.
Even though he is currently out with an injury and trying to recover as soon as possible, Hansi Flick would love to have him fully fit as soon as possible.
Despite the signing of Rodri, having De Jong fit is only beneficial for Barça, and he would be able to contribute alongside Pedri and the former Manchester City superstar.
If everything falls into place, De Jong seemingly wants Barça to be the club where his European journey ends.
However, that lies far ahead and the immediate priority for him needs to be returning to his best level and helping Barça this upcoming season.
