Chelsea's interest in Ahanor: Atalanta chief reveals whether the club have received an offer
Atalanta sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli has addressed Chelsea’s reported interest in Nigeria-eligible defender Honest Ahanor.
Chelsea are understood to be monitoring the 18-year-old as they continue to explore opportunities for young defensive talents.
However, Giuntoli revealed that Atalanta have not received an official offer for the teenager.
“We haven't received any offers; whatever comes in, we'll evaluate it,” Giuntoli said, as quoted by Quotidiano Sportivo.
The comments come amid growing speculation over Ahanor’s future, with reports suggesting Chelsea have held initial discussions with Atalanta and the defender’s representatives over a potential move.
Transfer market expert Fabrizio Romano reported that Chelsea and their BlueCo ownership group are monitoring Ahanor as a possible investment for the future.
Ahanor has attracted significant attention after establishing himself at Atalanta following his move from Genoa in 2025.
His versatility has also increased his appeal, with the youngster capable of operating in different defensive positions.
Chelsea’s interest comes after the London club completed a deal for another Atalanta talent, Marco Palestra, earlier this summer.
Reports indicate that Ahanor is viewed as a potential long-term project rather than an immediate first-team solution.
Atalanta, meanwhile, have previously shown a willingness to reject approaches for the defender.
Brighton were also reported to have made an offer earlier in the summer, while the Italian club have maintained that they want to protect their most promising players.
