Liverpool is said to have turned its attentions to Ismaila Sarr after two failed bids for Yankuba Minteh, coming six years after the club was heavily linked to signing him

Ismaila Sarr is now reportedly Liverpool's right-winger target

Liverpool is considering a move for Ismaila Sarr for the second time, after links over six years ago when he had been at Watford.

The Reds looked for another attacking player to bring in alongside Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino in 2020, before eventually opting to sign Diogo Jota. Prior to this, Liverpool had spoken with Watford on bringing in Sarr who has close links to Mane.

Sarr has 17 Premier League goals in the past two seasons with Crystal Palace, with Liverpool now seemingly turning their attentions to him. The Senegalese international also previously admitted that he'd love to play for the club.

Watford were said to be asking for more than $55 million for Sarr at the time, which is around the same price the club paid for Jota.

Now, Liverpool is reportdly considering paying $68 million to acquire Sarr from Crystal Palace, who is reluctant to lose its star man.

But it's certainly a move that Sarr would want, after stating in 2020: "Liverpool are a really great team - everyone would love to play there. Everyone would love to play at Anfield."

Sarr appears to be Liverpool's fifth option on the right-wing, after making attempts to bring in Yan Diomande, Ibrahim Mbaye, Endrick and Yankuba Minteh.

Liverpool have had bids rejected for Diomande, Mbaye and Minteh, while reportedly being rebuffed in their attempts to bring in Endrick on loan from Real Madrid.

Sarr is significantly older than all of the other players the Reds have been linked with at the position, turning 29 years old this season.

The Senegalese winger spent four years at Watford before a forgettable season in the French league with Marseille - scoring just three goals - before returning to the Premier League with Crystal Palace.

Reports suggest that Liverpool's initial bid will not be enough to secure Sarr, with it remaining to be seen as to whether the club will go back in with a second offer.

Liverpool knows they must pay as much as $105 million if they are to secure Minteh from Brighton, while having had two offers rejected.

These moves are said to be separate from any deal for Bradley Barcola from PSG, with the club seeing him as a left-winger.

Should Liverpool manage to bring in two wingers, Cody Gakpo could leave the club with Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City holding interest.
