Reading have completed the permanent signing of promising teenager Jeremiah Berkeley-Agyepong from Chelsea, bringing an end to the winger’s lengthy association with the Blues.
Berkeley-Agyepong leaves Stamford Bridge having been part of Chelsea’s academy system since Under-8 level. The youngster progressed through the ranks during his time at the club and was part of the Chelsea Under-15 side that won the Premier League Floodlit Cup.
The winger continued his development at Cobham and featured for Chelsea’s Under-18 side during pre-season ahead of the 2024/25 campaign, gaining further experience as he looked to take the next steps in his career.
However, Berkeley-Agyepong will now continue his footballing journey at Reading after completing a permanent move to Berkshire.
The transfer represents an exciting opportunity for the teenager, who will leave Chelsea’s academy environment behind in search of the next stage of his development. Having spent the vast majority of his young career with the Blues, the move to Reading will also offer him a completely new challenge.
Reading have a strong history of developing young players, and Berkeley-Agyepong will hope the move can provide him with the platform to continue improving and eventually make the transition into senior football.
Chelsea have wished the youngster well following his departure, as he begins a new chapter away from the club where he developed from the age of eight.

At Reading, Berkeley-Agyepong may have a clearer route towards first-team football. The most important thing for any young player at this stage is regular opportunities, exposure to senior environments and the chance to prove themselves in competitive matches.
A move away can also provide a fresh start. Berkeley-Agyepong will now be judged on what he can produce in his new environment, while the challenge of adapting to a different club and style of football could accelerate his development.
