Liverpool’s summer search for a new right winger has taken several twists in the final week of the transfer window.
The Reds have already seen two bids rejected for Brighton’s Yankuba Minteh this month, with the Seagulls’ £80 million valuation eventually proving too high for Anfield’s recruitment team.

That setback forced Liverpool to widen their search for attacking reinforcements as the September 1 deadline approaches.
Bradley Barcola remains the club’s top priority on the left flank, but the right-wing vacancy left by Mohamed Salah’s departure to Trabzonspor still needs filling.
Attention soon turned to Crystal Palace forward Ismaila Sarr, a player who has haunted Liverpool on multiple occasions over the years.
The Reds opened talks with Palace and submitted a proposal worth around £50 million, according to Fabrizio Romano, as the 28-year-old was described as “keen on the move”.
According to Gambian journalist Foday Manneh, Crystal Palace have now rejected that opening £50 million bid from Liverpool, leaving the Reds to decide whether to return with an improved offer before the window shuts.
Liverpool’s interest in Sarr is not new.
The club made an enquiry for the Senegalese winger back in 2020, when he was playing for Watford.
That interest cooled off when Liverpool instead struck a deal to sign Diogo Jota from Wolves days later, a move that proved decisive as Jota established himself alongside Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino.
Six years on, Sarr is a very different proposition.
He joined Palace from Marseille in August 2024 and has since become one of the Premier League’s most productive wide players, scoring 21 goals in all competitions last season and helping the Eagles win their first major trophies, including the FA Cup, Community Shield and the UEFA Europa Conference League, where he finished as top scorer.
