Raiders' 2027 mock draft from ESPN lands Texas WR for Fernando Mendoza image
The Las Vegas Raiders drafted Fernando Mendoza with the No. 1 overall pick of the 2026 NFL Draft. He's their quarterback of the future and is someone worth being excited about
But there's one problem: the Raiders don't have a great supporting cast. Ashton Jeanty and Brock Bowers are great options at running back and tight end, but the Raiders really need to upgrade their wide receiver room.
ESPN's Jordan Reid, in his preseason mock draft, has the Raiders resolving that issue in the first round of the 2027 NFL Draft. While not Ohio State's Jeremiah Smith, Reid has the Raiders landing Texas Longhorns WR Cam Coleman to help Mendoza.
Raiders land Cam Coleman in ESPN mock draft
"5. Las Vegas Raiders. Cam Coleman, WR, Texas," Reid writes. "The Raiders got their QB1 in April when they picked Fernando Mendoza; now they get their true WR1."
Coleman is a Junior WR who transferred to Texas this year after two seasons at Auburn. During his time at Auburn, Coleman flashed some intriguing potential.
The 6-foot-3, 204-pound WR had 708 yards and five touchdowns on 56 receptions last season, and 598 yards with eight TDs on 37 receptions in 2024.
A breakout season could be in store for Coleman, and a top-five draft selection wouldn't be a huge surprise if he has a good connection with Arch Manning.

Taking Coleman would make a lot of sense for the Raiders, as they really could use the upgrade in their wide receiver room.
Jalen Nailor, Tre Tucker, and Jack Bech are their current projected starters. Malik Benson, Dont'e Thornton Jr., and a collection of other WRs make up the rest of the depth chart.
This is not a good WR room, and they really could use a true No. 1 option. That could come in a trade, but if they land Coleman, he and Mendoza could develop together in the NFL and potentially form a dynamic QB-WR pairing for many years to come.
Reid's mock draft for ESPN, giving the Raiders Coleman to hand Mendoza a true WR1, would make a lot of sense, as long as Coleman breaks out as anticipated.
