Chelsea attacking midfielder Omari Kellyman has completed a permanent transfer to Ligue 1 side RC Strasbourg, bringing an end to his two-year spell at Stamford Bridge.
The 20-year-old arrived at Chelsea from Aston Villa in the summer of 2024, joining the Blues as one of the more highly regarded young attacking talents in English football. However, his time in west London was disrupted by injury, which limited his ability to make a sustained impact during his first season with the club.
Kellyman made his Premier League 2 debut for Chelsea shortly after his arrival, but injury problems curtailed his progress and prevented him from building the momentum he would have hoped for.
The talented midfielder was subsequently given the opportunity to gain senior experience away from Stamford Bridge and enjoyed a successful loan spell at Cardiff City. Kellyman played his part in helping the Bluebirds secure promotion to the Championship, gaining valuable experience in a competitive first-team environment.
He returned to Chelsea ahead of the new campaign and featured twice during the club’s pre-season tour of Australia and Asia, offering supporters another glimpse of his ability. However, with competition for places remaining fierce, his future has now been resolved with a permanent switch to Strasbourg.
The move offers Kellyman an exciting new opportunity to continue his development in France. Strasbourg have become an increasingly attractive destination for young players looking to gain regular senior football, and the attacking midfielder will hope the change of scenery allows him to fulfil the potential that first earned him a move to Chelsea.
For CHELSEA, his departure brings an end to a relatively short spell in which circumstances, particularly injury, prevented Kellyman from fully demonstrating what he could offer.

Sometimes a player and a club simply do not get the opportunity to make the most of their partnership, and that appears to have been the case with Kellyman at Chelsea.
His time at Stamford Bridge was affected by injury at a crucial stage of his development, making it difficult for him to build consistency and force his way into the first-team picture.
That should not take away from his talent or potential. Kellyman has shown enough throughout his career to suggest that he has the ability to succeed at a high level, and a fresh start at Strasbourg could be exactly what he needs.
