Just as I write this in the late afternoon of Wednesday 26th August, Gabriel Martinelli is still an Arsenal player, but it seems certain to the entire footballing world that within a matter of a few days, he will be plying his trade in the Saudi League. I’ll get straight to the point here, I’m gutted by this, absolutely gutted. Sad as I was about Leo leaving, to me this has put me with at a whole different level disappointment and anger.
Show some respect to our Champions

I just look at this photo and remember that day so well. And to think that three months later I have some negative feelings about our club is quite unbelievable. I know that we have to keep moving on to both retain the title and finally get our hands on old big ears, but sometimes you do’t have to twist, you can sometimes stick and we should have stuck with Gabi. I realise that he may not have fully recovered from his horrible foot injury and maybe never will, but this man should have been given the respect that his goals deserve.
Quality can trump quantity

I can hear the moaning voices from Angel to the Emirates and all points in between, that he didn’t score enough goals and there may be an element of truth in that, but the quality and importance of so many of his goals outweighs the mere numbers in every measure. Just think Man City!! He scored the goal that finally broke the curse and what turned out to be his final League goal was the one that won us the League. Of course there were greater overall season long contributions from many other players, but if we had lost at home to City that day, I don’t believe that we would have gone on to that glorious day in May.
