Liverpool “would like to make a move” for highly-rated Monaco midfielder Lamine Camara, according to a massive claim from journalist Abdel Hamed.
There has been a huge outcry for the Reds to add to their midfield ahead of Monday’s transfer deadline, but Andoni Iraola played down the issue after the 2-2 draw away to Newcastle United:
“I think it’s just not personnel. “I understand, you are telling me basically that Ryan Gravenberch is the six and he is on the edge of the box, but if he shoots and he scores we are saying ‘what a play from Ryan Gravenberch. I also don’t want to take this from his game, but we have to adapt as a team to these situations and we have to know that these situations can happen.”
According to Hamed on X, however, Camara has now emerged as a late-summer option for Liverpool, with a move to Anfield potentially happening at the “last moment” of the window:
“Regarding Camara and Balogun, the offers are dragging on because the clubs are aware of Monaco’s situation and are waiting for the end of the transfer window. Liverpool, still on the hunt for a 6, would like to make a move for Camara at the last moment. For Balogun at 50 M in stoppage time, he could leave.”

Laminee Camara is EXACTLY what Liverpool need
Liverpool’s midfield looked inbalanced and exposed against Newcastle, with neither Ryan Gravenberch or Dominik Szoboszlai natural defensive players.
In Camara, the Reds would be signing a perfect option in the middle of the park, bringing more defensive nous and protection for the defence. He has been hailed by Monaco manager Filipe Luis in recent days, with the Brazilian saying of him:
“From everything that I saw, there is one thing that caught my eye. I have never seen that in 20 years; it’s Lamine Camara. He is a ‘different’ player from what I’ve seen so far. His ability to manage things on the pitch and his concentration. He has a level that is way, way above average.”
Camara is still only 22, so he would be a long-term signing for Liverpool, and he would be the different option that the Reds so badly crave under Iraola. Last season, he averaged 2.3 tackles per game in Ligue 1, highlighting his tenacity off the ball.
Failure to bring in a midfielder at all would be bizarre by FSG and the recruitment team, and almost inexcusable, unless Iraola truly believes he has the right players at his disposal already.
