Liverpool are holding new talks with Paris Saint-Germain over a deal for Bradley Barcola, with their hopes boosted as the French club have cut his price tag.
With less than a week to close their business for the summer, Liverpool are pushing ahead with talks for priority target Barcola.
Negotiations with PSG began at the end of July, with the decision made to pursue a deal for the France international following the failure to land Yan Diomande.
Those conversations with the Ligue 1 champions have proved difficult, but ahead of Tuesday’s transfer deadline the situation appears to be improving.
The Times‘ Paul Joyce reports that, with new contacts made this week, PSG have dropped their asking price to around £115 million.

PSG‘s initial valuation for Barcola stood at €170 million (£145.7m), and by cutting around £30 million from their demands it represents a significant development for Liverpool.
Still, a £115 million transfer would currently stand as the second-biggest in the club’s history, behind only the £125 million paid to sign Alexander Isak last summer.
While the package for Florian Wirtz was worth a total of £116 million, Liverpool will only pay £16 million of that to Bayer Leverkusen if the No. 7 helps them to win the Premier League and Champions League.
With time now short, Liverpool’s decision-makers must weigh up whether Barcola is of a similar calibre to those record-breaking signings.
The expectation is that a deal will be agreed in the coming days and there will be no issue when it comes to agreeing a contract with the 23-year-old.
Terms have already been provisionally laid out for a long-term deal and Barcola is widely reported to be prioritising Liverpool over any other club.

Liverpool are also looking to sign a right winger before the 11pm deadline on September 1, with their aborted move for Diomande leading sporting director Richard Hughes to cycle through a range of targets.
PSG‘s Ibrahim Mbaye was strongly considered while two bids were made for Brighton‘s Yankuba Minteh, though both were rejected with the Seagulls reportedly demanding £80 million.
Further enquiries were made for Real Madrid‘s Endrick and, more recently, Crystal Palace‘s Ismaila Sarr, with neither club willing to sell.
Koln’s Said El Mala and Lille’s Matias Fernandez-Pardo have also been of interest, but it is unknown whether either have been pursued since the £35 million signing of Victor Munoz was finalised in June.
