Chelsea Women Overcome Setbacks To Take Big First Leg Lead

Chelsea Women saw off Real Sociedad to take a 5-2 lead in the UWCL Champions League third qualifying round first leg.

SK Brann 2-1 Austria Wien

PSV Eindhoven 0-1 HB Køge

Czarni Sosnowiec 1-4 OH Leuven

SK Brann came from behind to take a 2-1 lead over Austria Wien, with Lauren Davidson getting the winning goal.

Kyra Carusa scored the only goal as HB Køge won away to PSV Eindhoven, Sparta Praha had to settle for a narrow home victory against Servette.

Leuven have one foot in the next stage after an Isabella Dekker double helped them win 4-1 at Czarni Sosnowiec.

Chelsea had to come from behind to defeat Real Sociedad, with Ainhoa Marin scoring an early goal. Naomi Girma equalised and Veerle Buurman put the Blues ahead, only for Cecilia Marcos to make it 2-2. But Melvine Malard struck twice, with Lauren James also on target.

Wolfsburg beat Inter Milan with goals either side of the break, and the visitors had a player sent off in between, Real Madrid scored in the second half for a 2-0 win at Ajax.

Eintracht Frankfurt drew with PSG after goals were exchanged in the first seven minutes.

The eventual winners of the nine ties will join the nine clubs directly qualified for the league phase. The nine defeated teams will transfer to the UEFA Women’s Europa Cup second qualifying round.
