A family worth more than $15 billion has officially been approved to buy the Seattle Seahawks.

Vinod Khosla, his wife Neeru Khosla, and his son Neal Khosla were unanimously approved by the NFL to be the next owners of the Seahawks. The family entered into a formal sale agreement with the Paul G. Allen Estate earlier this summer for a record $9.612 billion.

The update comes months after the team won its second Super Bowl title, with the announcement of the team's sale coming mere days after the Seahawks defeated the New England Patriots 29-13 in Super Bowl LX.

"How often do you get to buy a franchise that just won the Super Bowl?" Vinod Khosla said Wednesday, flanked by his co-owners, his wife, Neeru Khosla, and his son, Neal Khosla, per the NFL. "We are incredibly lucky and humbled by this gift, I would say, from the Allen trust."

Vinod Khosla is expected to keep the Seahawks in Seattle, a task former owner Paul G. Allen took to heart after he bought the team from Ken Behring in 1997. After Paul Allen's death, the Seahawks have been owned by his sister, Jody Allen, with the team remaining in the city since.

Under Vinod Khosla's ownership, the Seahawks are expected to remain in Seattle, with the 71-year-old calling Lumen Field "iconic and very much a part of the Seahawks' brand." The team will play at Lumen Field on a lease that runs through the 2032 season, with three 10-year options.

He added, "Obviously, we're not owners yet and we need to learn a lot more, but we will work with management and with others and with the community in Seattle to hopefully preserve this iconic brand."

As for what he and the new ownership group in Seattle are aiming for, he said the goal is "simple." "The task ahead is actually pretty simple. Keep the winning streak alive. Get another Super Bowl," he concluded.

This latest update came months after the team was announced for sale, just days after the Seahawks won their second Super Bowl title. The decision to sell the team was in line with Paul Allen's wishes for what was to happen to his sports empire after his death.

"The Estate of Paul G. Allen today announced it has commenced a formal sale process for the Seattle Seahawks NFL franchise, consistent with Allen's directive to eventually sell his sports holdings and direct all Estate proceeds to philanthropy," the statement began at the time.

"The Estate has selected investment back Allen & Company and law firm Latham & Watkins to lead the sale process, which is estimated to continue through the 2026 off-season. NFL owners must then ratify a final purchase agreement."

The $9.612 billion sale was first reported by ESPN in February, with ESPN's Senior NFL Insider Adam Schefter stating at the time that the sale is expected to set a new franchise record.

For reference, the Dallas Cowboys are the NFL's most valuable franchise, with the Jerry Jones franchise worth $13 billion, according to Forbes.

Notably, the average value of an NFL team is expected to rise. In 2025, the average NFL franchise was valued at $7.1 billion, representing a 25 percent increase from the year prior.
