The draw for the third round of the 2026/27 Carabao Cup was held on Wednesday night, with Liverpool discovering their opponents ahead of their entry into the competition next month.
The Reds are among eight clubs competing in Europe who enter at the last-32 stage. Two separate draws were held to determine the opponents and venue for Andoni Iraola’s side, with the third round taking place across two weeks in September.

As one of five English clubs competing in the Champions League, which begins in the week commencing September 7, Liverpool’s Carabao Cup fixture will be scheduled for the following midweek.
None of the eight European clubs can face each other in the third round. They will instead be placed in a separate pot from the other 24 qualified teams.
Liverpool have won the Carabao Cup a record 10 times, most recently in 2024 when they beat Chelsea 1-0 in the final at Wembley.
Liverpool will take on Tottenham Hotspur in the third round of the competition. The tie will take place at Anfield in the week commencing September 14.
Tottenham hammered Charlton Athletic to reach the third round of the Carabao Cup on Wednesday night, with new signing Savio marking his debut with a goal off the bench.
The Brazil winger, signed from Manchester City for an initial £75m, came on in the 71st minute with Spurs leading 3-0 and added a fourth 11 minutes later after cutting inside and firing home from the edge of the box.
Ben Davies made it 5-0 in the 85th minute before Lloyd Jones scored a late consolation for Charlton. Spurs had taken control through goals from Mikey Moore and Dominic Solanke before substitute Kevin Danso headed home Mateus Fernandes’ free-kick to make it 3-0.
