Everton hopes of bringing Jack Grealish back have been given a boost, with the Man City winger reportedly very keen on a return to Merseyside.
The Bobble reports that Everton are working on a deal for the 30-year-old, although there is no agreement with City at this stage.
That follows fresh reports over Grealish’s future, with Aston Villa also interested and Sunderland exploring the possibility of a late move.
For Everton, the important part of the latest update is Grealish’s own position.
Grealish wants Everton return
Grealish spent last season on loan at the Hill Dickinson Stadium and made 22 appearances before a foot injury brought his campaign to an early end.
Everton have never closed the door on bringing him back.
Chief executive Angus Kinnear confirmed earlier this month that the club had remained in contact with Grealish after his loan ended. He also revealed that the player chose to continue his rehabilitation with Everton when he was under no obligation to do so.
Now The Bobble reports that Grealish remains very keen on returning.
There are still obstacles. Everton need to reach an agreement with City, and Grealish is now, reportedly, one of the highest earners at the Etihad, making the finances of another move an obvious consideration.
Villa also provide strong competition given Grealish’s long association with his boyhood club.
Sunderland’s position appears less advanced. Sky Sports reported on Wednesday that they were exploring a deal, although talkSPORT subsequently said City had received no official approach.
Nothing is settled yet.
But Everton know Grealish, Grealish knows Everton and, according to this latest update, he wants to come back.
The next job is finding a deal City will accept.
