As good as the front 3 were on Monday night – and they were on fire – Robert Sanchez was an absolute damp squib with a couple of errors gifting Fulham and leaving us with a more uncomfortable finish than it needed to be. Quite how the Sporting Directors have watched him for the last 3 years and still think he doesn’t need replacing defies belief.
Anyway, after our first win in the Premier League 2026/27 season, tonight it’s the Carabao Cup second-round as we play host to Luton, who have already rattled in nine goals in their opening three games, so they’ll arrive at Stamford Bridge believing Chelsea’s defence is less “locked down” and more “available for viewing upon request”
The good news? Chelsea should still have enough attacking talent to get the job done, even if Xabi Alonso decides to rotate heavily and gives the squad a shake-up. So, while Luton will fancy their chances against a defence that treats clean sheets as a purely theoretical concept, fingers-crossed we can outscore the opposition again.
