Liam Delap’s rather frustrating time at Chelsea has finally come to an end after sealing a move to Nottingham Forest.

Nottingham Forest have signed striker Liam Delap from Chelsea in a deal worth £50 million. The 23-year-old forward moves to the City Ground after a single season at Stamford Bridge following his arrival from Ipswich Town. During his time with the Blues, Delap struggled to command a permanent starting spot, recording three goals in 49 total appearances across all competitions.

Under new manager Xabi Alonso, Chelsea’s focal point in attack has shifted to Joao Pedro, who scored 20 goals in his debut season and started the new Premier League campaign with a goal against Fulham.

Alonso’s options up front also feature summer additions Emmanuel Emegha and Danny Welbeck.

Taking to his personal Instagram account, Liam Delap kept it short but sweet with his message to Chelsea and his now former teammates.

He said: “I want to thank everyone at Chelsea for the past season, met some great people here. Wishing the club all the best for the campaign ahead.”

There were a number of replies from Chelsea players in the comments.

Cole Palmer replied: “Good luck bro.”

Reece James said: “Good luck brother.”

Morgan Rogers responded: “🥹🥹”

He may not have provided the goals during his time at Stamford Bridge, but it’s clear to see that he was a liked character in the Chelsea dressing room and will be missed by the players.
