Chelsea are reportedly preparing to return for former Bristol City star Alex Scott ahead of next week's transfer deadline, but Bournemouth are said to be 'adamant' the midfielder is not for sale.
According to the Independent's Miguel Delaney, Xabi Alonso's side are readying another approach for the ex-Robin - who they reportedly saw an £64million bid turned down for early this summer - as Enzo Fernandez moves closer to a switch to Manchester City.
While the Cherries have so far shut down any interest in the 23-year-old England youth international, it is said that there is a belief that a bid in excess of £80million - likely closer to £90million - could see Marco Rose's side reconsider their stance.
Delaney's report adds that Premier League giants Liverpool, who are managed by former Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola, have also held an interest in Scott. The Anfield club are, however, not believed to have the budget to add to their midfield this summer, with other areas prioritised.
Reports from other outlets have played down the chances of the Cherries sanctioning the former City midfielder's departure ahead of Tuesday evening's transfer deadline.
Sky Sports' Rob Dorsett says Bournemouth are 'adamant that Alex Scott is not for sale' despite interest from both Chelsea and Manchester City. His suggestion is that Enzo Maresca's side could move for the 23-year-old, if they don't secure the services of Fernandez, as expected.
TalkSPORT's Alex Crook has reported that the Cherries aren't anticipating a fresh approach from Chelsea for the England youth international, with their stance remaining that he is not for sale this summer.
Speculation around Scott's future comes after the midfielder entered the final two years of his contract at the Vitality Stadium. While a new deal has reportedly been offered to the former Robins ace, he is said to have rejected the proposal, amid transfer interest from several Premier League clubs.
City, who the England youth international played 91 times for between 2021 and 2023, are likely to be keeping a keen eye on Scott's situation between now and Tuesday evening's transfer deadline.
Reds owner Steve Lansdown revealed in a recent interview that the Robins would be set to pocket an unconfirmed proportion of any fee received by Bournemouth for the midfielder this summer, courtesy of a clause included in his original move to the Vitality Stadium.
"There certainly is, yes," Lansdown told BBC Guernsey when asked if City had a sell-on clause attached to Scott. "We would never let a player depart without having a sell-on clause.
"We had one with Antoine Semenyo - who also went to Bournemouth and has now gone to Manchester City - so we'll be hopeful that Alex will be sold by Bournemouth at some point in the future, because we will then get a share of some of the proceeds. But that's the football business: you take a player on, you invest in their future, their training, their medicals and all the other aspects.
"You want them to play for you, and if they can't play for you and you move them on to somewhere else, you obviously get a fee and an ongoing fee if they go to a bigger club again."
Asked about the exact arrangement of the clause, the Robins' owner added, "I wouldn't disclose that, because that's private and confidential, but the golden rule is: don't let a player go without a sell-on."
