Former player turned pundit Jamie Carragher is one of the biggest personalities in British football. He shone for a number of years with Liverpool and England before retiring, taking on a high-profile role covering the game with Sky Sports.
The former centre-back won 38 senior caps for the Three Lions and is viewed as one of the Reds' greatest ever players. He spent 17 years at Anfield, playing 737 times for the club, and most famously winning the 2005 Champions League.
Now 48, he has established himself as one of the most prominent voices in the English sporting media, and is among the best-paid British pundits. Despite that, he is now facing potential bankruptcy.

Carragher Could Be Declared Bankrupt Over Unpaid Taxes

According to reports, HMRC filed a petition at the High Court in London on Wednesday (26 August) seeking to have Carragher declared bankrupt over an unpaid tax bill. As quoted by the Daily Mail, a statement from HMRC said:
HMRC added that it does not comment on individual cases.
CityAM, who were the first to report the news, also noted that Carragher is listed as a director of five companies, including one, Cafe Sports England (Liverpool) Ltd, which is in liquidation. The company owned the Stanley Street restaurant and cocktail bar in Thomas Steers Way in Liverpool One, which reportedly went out of business in 2013 due to debts of nearly £1.2million.
