Everton look to be leading Sunderland in the race to sign Manchester City talent Jack Grealish...
Jack Grealish would reportedly prefer to seal a return to Everton this summer amid transfer speculation linking him with a potential move to Sunderland.
The Manchester City winger emerged as a shock loan target for the Black Cats earlier this week, with David Ornstein stating the Wearsiders had made an approach over a prospective agreement. The Echo was subsequently told by senior club sources that the claims were accurate.
But the likelihood of Grealish signing for Sunderland looks to be diminishing, with various outlets suggesting that a move to Everton - where he spent last season on loan - could be on the cards. Sky Sports have claimed that the player would ideally like to return to Merseyside, with discussions underway, while renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano corroborates that information. The transfer guru took to social media on Thursday to state that talks are ongoing between the player’s camp and the Toffees over a switch. Romano goes on to claim that Sunderland are “not involved”.

Moreover, it is understood that Grealish’s current employers, Man City, are keen on securing the services of Everton attacker Iliman Ndiaye, and according to The Athletic, could look to use the England international as a makeweight in any potential deal.
When asked about Grealish’s future on Thursday, newly appointed Man City boss Enzo Maresca said: "Jack is here until the day he is here, it's my duty to try and help him and give us the best. Then we'll see in the next four or five days what happens."
