Key Champions League dates ahead of the draw involving Arsenal, Manchester City, Manchester United, Aston Villa and Liverpool:
Champions League draw: The draw for the league phase of the Champions League takes place from 5pm UK time on Thursday. Fans of the five English clubs in the competition will be eagerly awaiting to discover their opponents.
Format: Since the 2024/25 season, the Champions League has been revamped to a 36-team table where each team plays eight different opponents. They're pitted against two opponents from each of the four pots, playing one home game and one away game from each.
Qualification: The top eight teams in the table after those games will progress automatically. Teams in ninth to 24th will be drawn against each other in a play-off round. 25th to 36th will be eliminated.
League phase dates: Matchday 1: September 8/10, Matchday 2: October 13/14, Matchday 3: October 20/21, Matchday 4: November 3/4, Matchday 5: November 24/25, Matchday 6: December 8/9, Matchday 7: January 19/20, Matchday 8: January 27.
Knockout dates: Play-offs: February 16/17 and 23/24, Round of 16: March 9/10 and 16/17, Quarter-finals: April 6/7 and 13/14, Semi-finals: April 27/28 and May 4/5, Final: June 5.
