**Newcastle United target Matias Fernandez-Pardo is no longer training with Lille’s first team amid uncertainty about his future.**
Lille boss Davide Ancelotti has confirmed that the Belgian international has been told to stay away from the senior squad ahead of their match against Paris Saint-Germain:
“I have decided, in consultation with the club, that he will no longer train with the squad until the end of the transfer window.”
“I am focusing on the players who are available for tomorrow’s match and who are training with us.”
Newcastle reportedly tabled a bid for the winger
------------------------------------------------
It was [**claimed**](https://newcastleunitednews.org/blog/newcastle-united-transfer-news-matias-fernandez-pardo/) in the French media that the Magpies made an offer of around €40m (£34m) for the 21-year-old, but it was well short of Lille’s reported valuation.
The Ligue One side are said to be holding out for a fee in the region of €70m, which works out at exactly £60m.
There is A LOT of competition for Fernandez-Pardo
-------------------------------------------------
Atletico Madrid, RB Leipzig, as well as Manchester United, Arsenal and Liverpool, have all been named as potential suitors in recent weeks.
In that context, you would think that the chances of Matthias Jaissle’s side winning the race for Fernandez-Pardo’s signature are pretty slim, considering all of those teams have Champions League football.
Even so, the Belgian has seemingly burned all of his bridges at Lille, and if the Magpies do present the French club with an acceptable bid before the deadline next Tuesday, they may well take it.
Fernandez-Pardo would be a very exciting addition if he were to make the switch to St James’ Park. He is known for his lightning pace, and the combination of him, Anthony Elanga and Will Osula up front would be incredibly hard to stop.
