Andoni Iraola addressed the media to preview Liverpool’s second Premier League of the season at home to Nottingham Forest on Saturday, and provided some insight into the ongoing transfer work behind the scenes.
Liverpool have already signed Jeremy Jacquet, Victor Munoz and Ronald Araujo (loan), with Bradley Barcola soon to join the Reds after an agreement in principle was reached with PSG on Thursday.
Beyond Barcola, Liverpool could still make two more signings to add a right-winger and a defensive midfielder, with Lamine Camara heavily linked to be their top target at the base of midfield.
Iraola told the press: “I don’t know what’s going to happen. Even myself I have to be patient. Then we get to September 2, this is who we have and the options we have then we can start thinking.
“For now we don’t know. I have in my head what I want, we’ve been talking since the beginning with the club, they know what we want. It’s about closing the deals.
“There are certain things we can but it’s true we need players in the wide areas. I’m sure if we can improve other areas we will but I don’t know how the market is going to finish.
“I have to be patient as well as you. It’s very uncomfortable for me as you are dealing with uncertainties all the time. In four or five days we will know what we have and then we can make proper plans.”

In terms of incomings, it would be great to see Barcola, Camara and a right winger signed before Deadline Day on 1 September at 11 pm, while there could still be a handful of exits too.
Cody Gakpo is likely to join Spurs once a deal for Barcola is confirmed, while Federico Chiesa is also strongly linked with a late departure.
Stefan Bajcetic and Harvey Elliott could also leave, but time will tell if all this gets done before the deadline.
Liverpool have left it very late this summer, testing the nerves of fans, but if they can get all this done in time, it could be a good window for Iraola to build on in his first season in charge.
