"He's Gone" Chiefs Cut 5-Year Veteran Less Than One Month Before 2026 Season 1
The Kansas City Chiefs are attempting to do whatever it takes to bounce back from the franchise’s worst season since Patrick Mahomes and Andy Reid took over. With Mahomes returning at full health to start the 2026 season, Travis Kelce back for another year, and Rashee Rice out of jail, the offense hopes to put up big numbers this season.
Unfortunately, one player entering his fifth year in the league has been released by the team.

Chiefs Cut Player Entering Fifth Year On Offense – What We Know
Just days before their preseason finale against the Seattle Seahawks, the Kansas City Chiefs waived veteran offensive lineman Kellen Diesch.
After winning the United Football League championship with the Louisville Kings earlier this year, Diesch signed with Kansas City as a free agent on August 20. While teams finalize their rosters for 2026, he’ll need to keep his agent busy.
In a tweet, the Chiefs announced their decision to waive Diesch:
We have traded for G Joshua Ezeudu.
We have waived T Kellen Diesch. pic.twitter.com/fl3AlF6hcs
— Kansas City Chiefs (@Chiefs) August 26, 2026
Diesch was eventually waived so the Chiefs could add offensive guard Joshua Ezeudu via a trade with the New York Giants.

The Chiefs general manager Brett Veach will decide whether to keep Diesch on the practice squad or if he will decide to permanently part ways with the veteran blocker.
