Alex Scott: Chelsea see£68m bid rejected by Bournemouth

Chelsea’s Alex Scott transfer chase has taken another turn. The Blues have made a major push for the Bournemouth midfielder, but the Cherries are refusing to move. The latest news suggest that the setback could force Chelsea to look elsewhere.

Chelsea make three bids for Alex Scott

Chelsea have been keen on Alex Scott for some time. The England midfielder has become one of Bournemouth’s key players. His form has also made him a target for several top clubs. As reported by The I Paper, Chelsea have made three bids for the 23-year-old this summer. The offers reportedly ranged from £62M to £68M. However, all three bids were rejected. The latest offer was worth £68M. That was still not enough to change Bournemouth’s mind.

Bournemouth have made it clear that Scott is not for sale before the transfer deadline. This is a strong message to the London side, which now has a difficult choice to make. Scott has also rejected new contract offers from Bournemouth. That could have given Chelsea hope that a deal might be possible. Yet, the club have not changed their stance.

Alex Scott’s stats for the 2025/26 season at Bournemouth, as per FOTMOB:

Competitions Matches Defensive Contributions Duels Won Passing Accuracy(%)

Premier League 37 387 185 84.9%

FA Cup 1 1 2 74.3%

EFL Cup 1 5 8 90.4%

Why Chelsea want Alex Scott

The Blues are looking at Scott because of the uncertainty around Enzo Fernandez. Manchester City are interested in the Argentine midfielder. Chelsea do not want to lose a key player without having a replacement ready. Scott has therefore become one of the names being considered. Chelsea see Scott as one of their main midfield options. The club have been working on possible replacements in case Fernandez leaves Stamford Bridge.

Bournemouth are now refusing to even place a value on Scott because their position is simple: he is not for sale. That means another big bid may not be enough. The midfielder has also attracted interest from other Premier League sides. For Chelsea, though, the situation is now about more than simply paying a bigger fee. They must decide how far they are willing to go for a player whose current club does not want to sell.

Real Madrid option emerges

Chelsea may now need another plan. The Blues have looked towards Real Madrid after their latest Scott setback. Eduardo Camavinga has emerged as another possible midfield option as Chelsea prepare for different outcomes around Fernandez. The move for Camavinga would be a very different deal. The French football player already has experience at the highest level. He has also played in some of the biggest games in Europe. Still, Scott remains an important name on Chelsea’s list.

Bournemouth have told Chelsea that another approach is unlikely to change their position. Bournemouth also have no plans to allow Scott to leave before the window closes. That leaves the Blues with limited clear choices. They can either make another huge offer or move on to another target. In addition, they can keep Fernandez and end the search as well. With the transfer window closing soon, time is becoming a major factor.

Author’s Opinion

Chelsea clearly rate Alex Scott, but three rejected bids show how difficult this deal has become. Paying even more may not solve the problem. If Bournemouth will not sell, the Blues may be better off protecting their plans and finding another option.
