**Liverpool’s draw for the UEFA Champions League group phase has finally been confirmed as Andoni Iraola aims to manage his first game in the competition.**
The Reds begin their campaign with a home clash against Atletico Madrid, while a reunion with former Liverpool midfielder Curtis Jones is also on the radar as they top it up with a trip to Italy.
While the aforementioned games are the standout fixtures, there are a few tricky ties in there for them to negotiate.
And Iraola feels his side will really need to be on their toes to make it through to the Round of 16 directly.
He said via Liverpool’s official website, “It’s an interesting and difficult draw but we understood in advance that however the draw went we would be facing strong opposition, and that is exactly how it has worked out.
“This is the strength of the Champions League and why competing in it is such a big test. Each of these games will present a difficult challenge in their own way, so we will have to prepare for them as best as possible and give our very best on the pitch.
“It’s up to us to be ready but we have two important Premier League games before then, which will be our full focus before we look at the Champions League.
