Sverre Nypan for Norway
Sverre Nypan has suffered an injury blow at Lommel, where he is on loan from Manchester City, with NRK reporting that he pulled up after just five minutes of the team’s latest match against Westerlo.
The youngster did not get enough game time when he spent time on loan at Middlesbrough last season, which is why City have opted to send him to Belgium this time. The attacker is one of the top players from the Norwegian Eliteserien to be sold in recent times and has to deal with the pressure of being the most expensive export from the Norwegian top flight.
Nypan faces injury setback
Nypan hopes to become an important player for City in the future, but for now, he wants to develop and prove that he can do well outside Norway. In Belgium, he will get a chance to play under less pressure, unlike in England, where he has been hyped as a top player from Norway.
His injury is now set to keep him out of action for around a month, which is a blow to both him and his team. However, it would be smart for them not to rush him back, as there is still a long season ahead.
Nypan’s time at Lommel is intended to help him continue his development after struggling for regular playing time at Middlesbrough. The injury will interrupt that progress, but a careful recovery should give him the best chance of returning to action without further problems.
Lommel hope for quick recovery
Lommel coach Lee Johnson has provided an indication of how long Nypan could be unavailable, while hoping the youngster can return to training after the upcoming national team break.
“Sverre is most likely to lose four games. I hope he’s back in training after the national team break,” says Lommel coach Lee Johnson.
Missing around four matches will be disappointing for Nypan, particularly as he is trying to establish himself at his new club. However, there is still plenty of time remaining in the season for him to regain his fitness and continue developing.
For Manchester City, the priority will also be to ensure that Nypan makes a full recovery. His long term development remains important, and rushing him back could create further complications.
Nypan will now focus on recovering from the injury and returning to training as soon as possible. Once fit, he will hope to resume his progress at Lommel and demonstrate why City believe he can become an important player in the future.
