NFL celebrities getting arrested for getting in trouble is not new, but Jed York’s arrest is definitely something that no one saw coming. He was arrested for a prostitution sting that has put his reputation in complete jeopardy. Footage of the exact moment of the arrest is now public for everyone to see.
Jed York’s Arrest Video Gets Public
On Sunday morning, August 23, 2026, San Francisco 49ers owner and CEO Jed York was arrested in East Palestine, Ohio, during an undercover prostitution sting conducted by the Mahoning Valley Human Trafficking Task Force. York, a Youngstown-area native, responded to an online advertisement posted on a known prostitution website. Using the alias “Joe,” he arranged to pay approximately $160 for an hour of sexual activity and drove to a mobile home park for the meeting.

In the body-camera footage from the East Palestine Police Department, it showed an officer approaching the gray SUV around 9:58 a.m. York, dressed casually in a New York Yankees T-shirt, gray basketball shorts, and sneakers, opens the driver’s door while holding his wallet. The officer unbuckles his seatbelt, removes him from the vehicle, directs him to place his hands on the car and spread his feet, and handcuffs him.
York appeared visibly stunned. As he is being restrained, he asks, “Can I ask what you’re doing?” When officers inquired whether he was meeting anyone, he replied that he was “just driving” in the area. Officers then searched the vehicle and seemingly discovered a large stack of $20 bills. “He’s got a s*** ton of cash,” one of the officers said.

San Francisco 49ers have been quite successful under Jed York including their three Super-bowl appearances since 2008. While his arrest has hampered the reputation of the franchise, the video seemed questionable to the fans and they were vocal on expressing their views on X.
Fans Are Not Happy with Jed York’s Arrest Video
Jed York at first were in serious public scrutiny but after the body-camera footage was released, fans think the police didn’t handle the situation professionally and the way of detaining was questionable to a lot of the commenter.
“I’m no law expert, but isn’t he supposed to be read his rights while being handcuffed and put in the back of a police car? ” a commenter wrote.
“Did they have probably cause to detain? Having cash isn’t a crime? Or was he pulled over for a traffic violation? Even so, that wouldn’t give them the right to detain right away,” a user noted.
“And yet if he’d hired her as a contractor, brought a camera, and his only fans account, he would have been just fine paying her for her appearance, and posting the video online for anyone to pay to watch? Help me understand,” someone commented.
“There’s no probable cause to Arrest him . Driving is not a crime, ” another user wrote.
“No rights? No obligation to say why he’s being detained? Tf was this. He’s getting off (pun intended),” another fan commented.
The court sentenced him to one day in jail on each count, to be served concurrently, with credit given for the day he had already spent in custody. He was also ordered to pay fines of roughly $150 for disorderly conduct and $1,000 for possessing criminal tools, totaling about $1,150.
