Chelsea progressed to the fourth round of the Carabao Cup with a 2-0 victory over Luton Town at Stamford Bridge.
After a goalless first half, Danny Welbeck marked his Chelsea debut with the opening goal in the 50th minute, heading home from close range to break Luton's resistance.
Luton goalkeeper Josh Keeley produced a series of impressive saves throughout the match, including a double stop to deny Cole Palmer. Chelsea also saw efforts from Morgan Rogers and Palmer strike the woodwork.
The Blues eventually sealed victory in the 79th minute when Hakeem Odoffin diverted Estevao Willian's shot into his own net. Keeley continued to impress late on, saving efforts from Palmer and Joao Pedro, while substitute Jamie Gittens hit the post in added time.
The result secured a third round tie at home to Leeds United for Chelsea, as Xabi Alonso celebrated his first competitive home win as boss.
