Gill Clark Gill Clark is the site manager of Barca Blaugranes and joined in 2017. She has worked in sports media as a writer and editor for the best part of two decades and has been in love with the beautiful game for as long as she can remember.
Rodri made his debut for Barcelona on Thursday night as Hansi Flick’s side ran out 2-0 winners against Athletic Club at Camp Nou.
Raphinha and Fermin Lopez were both on target for the Catalans, while Lamine Yamal and Karim Adeyemi were both unlucky not to score.
Rodri spoke about his delight at playing his first game for Barcelona and also took time to praise Yamal for his display.
“Very happy to make my debut. Happy with the win. Two for two. It’s important to get into a rhythm and adapt to this great team. First few minutes and good feelings,” he told DAZN.
“It’s been a long summer, longer than usual. I need to get back into the swing of things quickly. This is where I wanted to be, and I’m happy with how things have turned out. Now it’s time to get to work.
“Lamine was coming off a rough patch, but today he bounced back and showed his best form. We need that from him, that work ethic and consistency, because the talent is there and the goals will come.”
Barcelona have made a good start to the season so far and will hope to make it three from three on Monday night against Rayo Vallecano.
